I updated my phone and i forgot my passcode to set up now i cant use my phone

So I just updated my iPad. And Ann having this same problem. I KNOW I never set up a passcode cause this is a family iPad usually only used by my 5 year old daughter that never leaves the house. When I updated it she was the first to open it a d tried a bunch of numbers for fun. Well now it's disabled and the 3 sets of numbers I KNOW would be the only ones we'd ever use don't work. (And no she didn't accidentally set one up either) so I know that's not it.

So am I able to at least get the data before wiping the whole thing??

The only thing you can do is erase the device and set it up as new.

Are you sure you forgot your passcode or is the one you put in just not working? I did my update yesterday and swear the passcode I'm using is correct but no can't access my phone. I've had to reset it and have lost everything that wasn't backed up. Very upset now that I upgraded the IOS. Apple said they hadn't had any other issues so I was a case for them that they reckon just forgot their passcode. What did you end up doing?

My new phone requires a 6 digit passcode. My old phone had a 4 digit passcode. I initiated the touch fingerprint system but after turning my phone off and then back on this morning it said i need the passcode to enter the phone
